Flutterby Music Instructor
Flutterby Music is a fun, group Colourstrings Kindergarten class for babies and children up to the age of 7. The purpose of each class is to develop your child's musicality in an unconscious way. We use a singing based approach to music education, with classes leading to real musical skills. Every child is born musical. Flutterby Music nurtures this innate musicality from a young age to develop it into an instinctive, natural understanding and musical ability.
"I would highly recommed this class to any parent that wishes to give their child the most comprehensive opportunity to explore all aspects of music from a young age."

Classes starting from Thursday 28th February 2019 - Please contact Rachel directly to book.
9.30am Red Butterflies (2-4s) £6.50pw payable by the term
This is an active class with lots of movement, circle dances and musical activities that focus on keeping the beat along with developing co-ordination, listening and language skills. We meet Daddy, Mummy and Baby Bear in Musicland, try out a variety of percussion instruments and develop our imagination through the story within the songs. We also develop social skills, particularly turn-taking. Music and the development of musical skills is at the very centre of each and every class. Without realising it, the children are learning about music through songs and rhymes chosen to incorporate the week’s concept (fast-slow, high-low etc). Props, instruments, movement, actions, games and dances all help to imbed the concept and physicalize it. By starting musical development at a young age, you are giving your child the best chance to be able to achieve a tuneful voice - our classes have songs that start with only a couple of pitches, to develop that ‘inner ear’ and sense of tuning.
10.10am Caterpillars (babies) £6.00pw payable by the term
A perfect introduction to music for your little ones - calm, singing-based sessions - perfect for bonding and leading to real musical skills. We do lots of bouncing, swaying, rolling, tapping, walking (carrying them) at different speeds, and play different instruments to and with them so that they can also hear and feel the pulse - such an important aspect of learning music! We focus on the human voice - without distracting backing tracks, singing alone enables the baby to really hear the pitches, rhythms and words of the song. Songs are carefully chosen to be easy to pitch and remember, and within a child's range - you won't find the same songs in a Colourstrings class as you might at the Library or at other music classes. Our classes are really friendly and you will be made very welcome!
10.45am Chrysalises (walkers - 2s) £6.50pw payable by the term
Lots of musical learning fun! Counting songs, rhymes, action songs, responding to music with our bodies and props, moving around at different speeds and being rocked, bounced and swung. The structure of the class keeps things familiar and secure, and helps the children to look forward to particular activities (such as the ball and the bears) and to know when it's their turn. Music and the development of musical skills is at the very centre of each and every class. Without realising it, the children are learning about music through songs and rhymes chosen to incorporate the week’s musical concept.
